I got a gig outside of The Essentials!
This Saturday night I'll be performing as half of "PB & J" the fearless acoustic duo that only knows one song and has had zero rehearsals. I'm the J of course. PB is an ol' pal of mine named Patrick Boydell.
Patrick has been a friend of mine since Grade 9. He was the first kid I met on the first day of high school 17 seconds before the start of Mr. Sargeant's geography class. Having to endure lectures about the Canadian Shield bonds people I suppose, and so we've been tight ever since.
This is Patrick.
As you can tell, he takes life just about as seriously as I do. We're both adept at two things – walrus poses and always trying to find the humour in a situation.
But music is something we both take seriously.
So Patrick's become quite the guitar player over the years and he's going to have a few of his guitar-strumming friends over to his house this weekend for his musical birthday celebration.
He called me this week and thought it would be fun if we did a tune together at the soirée. By that he means that he plays guitar and I sing lead. For those that know me, I'm not really a lead singer. Words are just so verbose and easily forgotten.
But we're doing it this Saturday. We'll be performing Fire & Rain by James Taylor.
I'll probably have a lyrics sheet in front of me which could lead to some serious heckling but I'll take that over singing "I see fire and I see rain mmmmph mmmmph ba da da mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph mmmmph."
That's it. There's nothing else to report on this. I just thought you should know about my private gig with an old pal and show you a couple of his funny pictures.
Happy birthday PB, you’re not getting older you’re getting...oh no, wait...yes that's right, you're getting older. ;)
