Rumours

Ok, I must admit...I’m a Gleek! I’ve been a pretty big fan of the show “Glee” since it premiered in 2009. Now in its 2nd season, I am still watching avidly.

The other day, I watched the episode entitled “Rumours”, which featured songs from Fleeetwood Mac’s album “Rumours” (released in 1977). The day after I watched this episode, I was listening to some songs on my itunes and I happened to click on the itunes store. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Rumours was #3 on the itunes album charts.

Now wait a minute...if this album was released in 1977, it’s pretty unlikely that everyone would be discovering this album all at the same time in 2011 UNLESS there was something that brought that album to light...

As much as all the ‘Glee bashers’ would hate to admit it, Glee has had a positive influence on music sales around the world. I mean c’mon, how many young kids really knew who Journey was before Glee came around? If you asked any teen girl, she could probably sing every word of “Don’t Stop Believin’” for you, without hesitation. That song peaked on the charts in 1981 but then made a huge comeback in 2010, and it’s all because of Glee.

Glee has also been beneficial to Canadian artists, such as Celine Dion, Michael Bublé, and Justin Bieber (not that they needed much extra help). So basically, we just have to find a way to get The Essentials’ music on Glee and then we’ll be a success on itunes charts overnight... :)
